On Saturday, we happily joined one of the workshops that is part of a two month educational programme for local youth in Yurac Yacu; this training prepares the new guides to take visitors on cultural tours in the region.
When you book your adventure with Project Cordillera, you contribute directly to this project, which has been run by our incredible partner, Andean Alliance, since 2010.
Saturday’s workshop focused on map-making and first aid training and we’ll return later this week for their bouldering course. It was inspiring to see how the students are eager to learn about their surrounding environment and conservation issues. Also, we got to see where the Community Guides Office will be constructed later this year next to the Yurac Yacu Café and Education Center.
